Moon Handbook, Puerto Rico 2009

Avalon Travel Publishers
2nd edition publishes August 2009
La Estacion is a super casual oasis of convivial fun and outstanding, freshly prepared cuisine. The kitchen is located in a converted gas station, but the sprawling dining areas are on open air patios ... But it’s the food that really puts this place on the map. Everything is charcoal grilled, right outside where you can watch the action – fresh fish of the day, shrimp, strip steaks, chicken and burgers. The green papaya salad makes for a refreshing starter. And many of the ingredients are locally sourced.”

Your Guide to the Best of Our Twisted Town
NYC Annual Report, Andrea Strong
“Kevin Roth’s New American menu is diverse and inspired. If I ever get a couple million bucks, I’ll bribe Kevin Roth to be my private chef, since he makes all kinds of eclectic things that I never get tired of.”

New York City Restaurants
Zagat Rating 21
A real coup, this high-design, “cool, airy” East Villager gets kudos for its first-rate “original” New American food and surprisingly “unpretentious” staff for such a “chichi” spot; your fellow diners are as “sexy” as the setting.

New York Times, May 2001

Review of Coup, Kevin Roth. Feeling at Home
“A good local restaurant is essential to any urban neighborhood. These places let customers escape the anonymity of the city and feel at home, even if they’re not from the vicinity.”

New York Times, January 2001

“American-born chefs have come into their own in the last decade, using fresh seasonal ingredients and incorporating exotic flavors into dishes served in friendly, informal dining rooms. (Kevin Roth has) … helped reinvent the American Restaurant.”

New York Daily News - Eating Out, August 2000

“Before we even lifted a fork, we both ooohed… The meat in both dishes was moist and pink on the inside, with just the right amount of grilled bits of char on the exterior. The fruit sauces were fresh and bold, not sugary. Chef Kevin Roth takes his inspiration from Europe, but brings Asian flavors and American flair to a wide range of dishes.
Coup…means “master stroke” which is apt. After all, Coup combines gracious surroundings and great food. Now that’s a coup!”

Event

La Estacion in Las Croabas, near Fajardo is terriffic Nyorican food. Everything is cooked over a charcoal grill and the Bar looks out over a large outdoor deck. Pork ribs are a specialty, but they do burgers and smaller stuff too. The owners are former New Yorkers

It's probably about 45 minutes from Humacao by car but well worth it
